Terms of Use

These conditions apply to every visit, search, and use of material on Charles City County Criminal History. Using the website signals agreement with them. Anyone who does not agree should discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. Charles City County Criminal History is private and has no government affiliation. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource identifies official criminal-record channels in Charles City County and Virginia. It is not a private investigator or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site is independent of all public offices. It neither stores government criminal records nor retrieves official files, performs government checks, or submits forms for a visitor.

Its role is to identify custodians such as the Charles City Sheriff, trial-court clerks, Virginia State Police CARE/CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, along with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Interfere with availability or another visitor's access
  • Use bots, scraping software, or other automated collection tools
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Use information to stalk, threaten, intimidate, or harass
  • Make a hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decision from site content
  • Violate a local, Virginia, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No site or linked-tool information may be used to threaten, stalk, harass, intimidate, or discriminate. Virginia's Registry Act restricts misuse of the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry and can impose criminal penalties. Registry information serves public safety, not vigilantism or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and produces no consumer, credit, or official background report. Site and partner tools are not designed for applicant, rental, insurance, or credit screening. Information from them must not be used to:

  • Assess eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Set an insurance rate or judge creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Make an employment decision
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally permitted regulated check must come through the appropriate official Virginia State Police channel or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

General information about Charles City County records is not legal advice. Only a licensed Virginia attorney can assess how a warrant, charge, conviction, sealing law, or expungement rule affects a specific matter.

6. No Warranties

All services and material are supplied "as is," without a promise that:

  • Partner results are complete, accurate, or correctly matched
  • Pages contain no defect, error, or security weakness
  • The service will remain available without interruption
  • Published information is complete, current, or error-free

Charges, dispositions, custody, sealing, and expungement can change a record. Publication gaps are possible, and no statement here is an official representation by a court, Sheriff, jail, or state agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to courts, the Sheriff, Virginia agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Those destinations control their own content, availability, prices, and data practices. Their terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Charles City County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, redistributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for damage arising from use of the site, including reliance on its content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to defend and hold us harmless against claims, demands, proceedings, and related legal costs caused by that user's conduct or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms, including applicable provisions of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and Va. Code ยง 19.2-389 when official criminal-history dissemination is discussed. Any dispute arising from site use must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

These conditions may be revised. A new version takes effect when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended or terminated at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.
